Several construction projects are taking place on Magee Marsh Wildlife Area that will impact public visitation. Throughout the summer, Magee Marsh will be open at sunrise on Saturdays to sunset on Sundays.
The Sportsmen’s Migratory Bird Center at Magee Marsh will remain closed, however the walking trails and boardwalk will be open. The boardwalk will be one-way traffic from the west entrance to the east end of the wildlife area.
Lake Erie is presently at record high levels and if flooding occurs due to a northeast wind event the entire area may be closed.
The improvement projects in place are partly paid for with money from the sale of hunting and fishing licenses and include a new roof for the Bird Center, placement of armor rock to protect the lakefront dike, and resurfacing of all parking lots and the entrance road.
Is Magee Marsh open to the public now?
