PORT CLINTON – The Magruder Auxiliary Scholarship Committee has announced scholarships totaling $24,750 given to students from high schools throughout Ottawa County for post-secondary programs in a variety of medical fields. Scholarship moneys come from three separate initiatives overseen by the Magruder Auxiliary Scholarship Committee.

Students from four school districts in Ottawa County were awarded Auxiliary Scholarships. Port Clinton High School student recipients were Corinne Baker, Erieyonna Buckley, Morgan Delhees and Brooklynn Starkey. The Danbury High School recipient was Astrid Halblaub. Oak Harbor High School recipients were Samantha Keller, Bella Lake and Effie Schulte. The Woodmore recipient was Kora Perkins. The Magruder Auxiliary raises funds for this scholarship through a series of activities and events throughout the year, including proceeds from the Magruder Gift Shop and the upcoming Auxiliary Style and Trunk Show at the PC Yacht Club on Sept. 21.

The Mildred Schmitt Roy Trust provides renewable scholarships to students entering the field of nursing. Roy Nursing Scholarships were awarded to Makayla Couture, Christiona Fenton, Olivia Rodgers, Ashton Sanchez, Olivia Spencer and Katelyn Lovitt from Port Clinton High School.

Dr. R.W. Minick Scholarships are designated to those choosing to pursue a career as a physician and are sponsored by the Medical Staff of Magruder. This year’s scholarship winners were Sam Roberts from Port Clinton High School and Madison Zimmerman from Genoa High School.
