Majesta Mae “Madge” Davids, passed away at home in Catawba Vineyards on Jan. 31. She was born in Kenton on Sept. 21, 1923, to Floyd and Susan (Dyer) Fults and grew up on the family farm. She loved that farm to her last day.
On Nov. 17, 1943, she married Ohio Northern University college sweetheart, Albert “Sonny” Davids. They started their family in Port Clinton, then built their forever home on Catawba Island. Sonny preceded her in death on July 2, 2003. Her best friend for the past 15 years, side by side, was her dog “Buckeye.” He and Madge were never apart.
Madge was an avid golfer and bridge player at CIC. She was one of the charter members of the Catawba Island Club Golferetts. She also served as a past president of the Junior Women’s Club and Magruder Hospital Auxiliary. She and Sonny were boaters, golfers, skiers, and partiers. Retirement years were spent in Florida on Fort Myers Beach and at age 50 Madge learned to play tennis. She became a crazy good player. Madge always loved a party. Most recently she loved her 99th. Today she’s dancing with Sonny!
Surviving are her children: Susie (Jim) Sokol, Brea, Calif., Cindy Crawmer, Port Clinton, Jeff (Mariann) Davids, Port Clinton, 7 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Wilma Oborn and husband Albert “Sonny” Davids.
