Malibu Bay in holiday groove for The District Stage on July 4

Guaranteed to be a blast on the Fourth of July on Port Clinton’s The District Stage, its premier entertainment venue all summer, will be Mark Wilkins, left, and Paul Grover of Malibu Bay.

With Mark Wilkins on guitar and Paul Grove tickling his talented keyboard, expect some fireworks on Independence Day on The District Stage in downtown Port Clinton. The pair will be on stage on July 4 at 6 p.m., giving their fans plenty of time to mosey over to Waterworks Park afterward for the annual Port Clinton Fireworks Show at dusk.

“We really enjoy playing together, and try to book as many gigs around the area as possible,” said Wilkins, who has retired to a full-time music career playing bass and rhythm guitar. “I was raised in Port Clinton and went to high school in Oak Harbor, and I‘ve been playing music since I was 16.”

While Wilkins really gets into the 70’s style of music, he likes to slip into a few country tunes from among the likes of George Jones and George Strait along the way. His real passion, however, is song writing, so the crowd should expect to hear a new tune, or two.

Grover is more of an 80’s artist, and blessed with a lot of vocal range. He plays a bit of Journey, and digs Hall & Oates, so don’t be surprised if “Rich Girl” or One on One” has you dancing.
