The Marblehead Peninsula Lions Club is excited to announce that the 28th annual Lions Perch Festival will return on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“The decision to continue the festival was made because the Lions’ motto is ‘We Serve,’ and we want to continue to give back to the residents and organizations in our community,” said President Tod Kelly. “And, because the festival is our main fundraiser.”
Because of Covid-19, many changes are necessary, including a new location behind the Danbury Lakers football field. Food orders will be carry-out only.
“The decision to move the festival to the school has to do with social distancing and because the Danbury Athletic Association has assisted with the festival for many years. It’s a money maker for them as well,” explained Kelly.
“Due to the generous support of Marblehead Peninsula and Port Clinton businesses, our raffle will feature a grand prize of $2,020, as well as a 90-second shopping spree at Bassett’s Market.”
Other prizes include a 2021 Bay Point beach pass and a variety of gift certificates. Unfortunately, this year the Lions Club will not be able to host the car show, vendor spaces, children’s activities or the parade through Marblehead. “Good food, however, is promised!” Kelly said.
