The Marblehead Peninsula Lions Club will host a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 16 to benefit local resident and breast cancer survivor Jennie Sherry Donich. The benefit will be held from 9–11:30 a.m. at the Stanley Jadwisiak VFW Post #7572 in Marblehead. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children. Three and under are free.
Donich was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 and then again in February 2019. On both occasions, she found the cancer herself. Her message to everyone is that self-examination is extremely important. According to Donich, she finished chemotherapy, radiation and had surgery and now has no evidence of the disease. Proceeds from the benefit will help pay medical expenses not covered by insurance.
“I am so appreciative to the Lions Club, my family, friends and co-workers for their support,” Donich said. She described her husband, Dan, who has been through this disease with her, as her “rock.”
The Sherry and Donich families are longtime residents of the Marblehead Peninsula. Donich is the daughter of John and Faye Sherry and the granddaughter of Lester and Elizabeth Sherry. She and Dan have two daughters, Danielle and Porsche.
