The Margaretta Polar Bears were victorious on Wednesday, March 13, as they defeated the Worthington Christian Warriors 69-59 in a Division III regional semifinal game. With this victory, Margaretta improved their record to 24-3 and will advance to their first boys basketball elite eight in 92 years. The Margaretta Polar Bears won the state championship in 1932. Margaretta will be back in action on Saturday, March 16, at 1 p.m. in a Division III final-four qualifying matchup against the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans who have a record of 23-3.

Margaretta was down by eight points at halftime, but they would turn that deficit around and move on to a 13-0 run and would not trail the Titans for the remainder of the game. Julian Washington led Margaretta in scoring with 26 points, and 23 of those points would come in the second half of the game. Washington also had seven rebounds and seven assists. Washington shot 9 of 11 from the floor and 7 of 7 from the line. Julian Washington was recognized as among the best on the postseason teams by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters. Washington made the All-Northwest District first team in the Northwest District D-III. Gage Bodey was the lone senior starter who would add 17 points along with four assists, and Judah Keller had 13 points and three steals.

For the Warriors it was senior Samuel Johnson who added 33 points and drew 11 fouls and would bring the Titans to within one point of Margaretta. Margaretta would pull ahead and lead 45-39 to start the fourth quarter. Margaretta increased their lead 59-53 but Samuel Johnson would score six points in one minute to tie the game, and those six points were the last that the Warriors would score. The combined scoring of Julian Washington, Kale Bailey and Gage Bodey for Margaretta sealed the victory.
