Mary Jo Ellithorpe, age 84, of Port Clinton, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, peacefully surrounded by her loving family from a brief illness. She was born on Aug. 14, 1938, in Sandusky, to William and Helen (Joerger) Herb. Mary Jo was an x-ray technician at Magruder Hospital and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Port Clinton, where she helped on the committee for the 150th anniversary of the church and also assisted with the church bereavement luncheon committee.
Mary Jo is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert, Sr.; children, Robert Jr. ( Beth) Ellithorpe Debra (Michael) Strayer and Scott (Gwen) Ellithorpe; grandchildren, Brian (Bri), Tim (Ali), Mark (Lexi), Jeff, Jacob, Jenna, Brittany, Ashley, Tiffany, Sam, Nicholas (MaKayla), Benjamin (Erica); 10 great grandchildren and siblings, Richard, Robert (Jean), Thomas (Deb), William (Rose) and Patricia (Beth). She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, at Immaculate Conception Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton. Interment will be private at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Stein Hospice or Immaculate Conception Church. The Gerner-Wolf Walker Funeral Home is assisting with the family with arrangements.
