Learn to make your own flower arrangement in a class at Hayes Presidential Library & Museums on Aug. 20.

FREMONT – Learn from a professional florist how to create your own floral arrangement during a class offered as part of First Lady Lucy Hayes’ Birthday Celebration on Sunday, Aug. 20, at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums.

Mary Snyder of Mary’s Blossom Shoppe in Port Clinton will bring a variety of flowers and greenery and show participants how to create their own unique arrangement that they will take home with them. The class is at 3 p.m. in the museum auditorium.

Tickets are required and are $62 for non-members and $57 for Hayes Presidential members. Tickets must be purchased by 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, so that all supplies can be ordered and secured for participants.

The class was chosen as an activity for Lucy Hayes’ birthday because she loved flower-arranging. She spent many hours in the White House Conservatory, which no longer exists, creating arrangements for state dinners and patients and area hospitals. At Spiegel Grove, she continued to create her own bouquets.
