PUT-IN-BAY – Summer entertainment may be winding down, but not at the perch church. That’s what Mike “Mad Dog” Adams calls his classic shows at the Round House Bar on Put-in-Bay. Adams, who is in his 46th year as a performer, will continue to bring his music and comedy to the island and to mainland venues through October. There are two more months to enjoy life with the Mad Dog philosophy of life.
“I always say, ‘Every day above ground is a good day,’” he said.
Adams will once again party the boating season away during the Haul Out Party at the Crow’s Nest on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.
“It’s about bringing the boats out of the water at the end of the season. It’s an excuse to have a party when you have to do that work. It’s not just boaters, but we all have fun,” Adams said. “The fall is a great time to come out to the East Harbor area.”
Adams will perform at the Round House Bar during the Put-in-Bay Ocktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m.

“It’s one of the best Saturdays of the year for food and fall foliage,” Adams said. “I’ll be at the Round House making a racket.”
During his nearly 50 years of entertaining, Adams had the opportunity to perform the opening act for many music and comedy greats, including Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Alabama, Charlie Daniels, Oak Ridge Boys, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Bob Saget.
“Every one of them left their own individual impression on me,” Adams said. “I watched them, and I learned that the people who had the longest careers were the ones who knew how to treat their fans right. Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn – they treated people right, and their fans were loyal.”
Adams took that lesson to heart and created a fanbase that has strengthened his career for 46 years.

“Being an opening act wasn’t just a job. It was an education,” he said.
Adams’ strong connection with his fans created a 46th summer of fun and rowdy music.
“I’m really proud of the fact that we had another terrific season at the Round House. The support has been great,” he said. “I want to thank everyone. I’m always very grateful for the fans who come for salty humor and singing.”
