PUT-IN-BAY Get ready to celebrate the magic of monarchs at the Third Annual Put-in-Bay Monarch Fest. The event will be held on Saturday, Sept.19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Duggan’s Field, next to the South Bass Island Lighthouse, for a fun-filled day of Monarch tagging, games, music, food, and family-friendly activities. With face painting, bounce houses, educational booths, and even lighthouse tours, there’s something for everyone. Suggested donation is $10, and all proceeds support the Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center.
New this year will be Monarch-themed yoga with Melany Gladieux on the lighthouse grounds at 10 a.m. before the event starts and a scavenger hunt. The food offered this year will be a true local favorite of authentic Jamaican food cooked by islander Lance Saunders, along with hotdogs to support the twirlers. Don’t miss this annual island favorite.
