Magruder Hospital Offers Monthly Diabetes Get-Togethers

The next Magruder Diabetes Get-Together will be on Thursday, Oct. 3, in the Magruder conference center at 1 p.m. These free get-togethers are for anyone dealing with Diabetes or Pre-Diabetes, including family and friends. The topic for October will be “Understanding Food Labels.” Discussions are led by Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists. Join us to learn, have your questions answered, support one another and share stories.

AARP Driver Safety Program at Magruder Hospital

AARP will be offering a Driver Safety program in the Magruder Conference Center on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members. Participants will learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road, how to deal with aggressive drivers, how to handle problem situations such as left turns, right-of-way, interstate highway traffic, trucks and blind spots, how to safely use anti-lock brakes, air bags and safety belts. Some insurance companies offer a discount for those who have completed the course.
