Camp Perry will be back to having a very busy summer now that the relaxed Covid-19 rules will allow thousands of shooters to return on Juy 13-Aug. 14 to compete. For experienced junior competitors at the National Matches, the CMP-USMC Junior Highpower Rifle Clinic will be held on July 30-Aug. 1 to offers personal instruction from members of the U.S. Marine Corps Rifle Team.
Thousands of marksmen are heading to Ottawa County for the month-long CMP National Trophy Rifle and Pistol Matches, Smallbore Rifle Matches, CMP Games Events and Long Range Matches held at Camp Perry on July 13 through Aug. 14. The Ottawa County Chambers of Commerce want local businesses to be ready to entertain them, and provide special discounts to make visitors welcome.
Ottawa County Chamber Members and area businesses expect over 3,000 competitors and their families to travel to Ottawa County. These competitors from around the country help to support many of the businesses in the area every summer and are a substantial source of revenue for the local economy.
To help assure their continued support of these businesses, the Ottawa County Chambers of Commerce and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is encouraging businesses to participate in the Competitor Discount Program.
CMP competitors will be issued a 2021 National Match souvenir button to identify them, and will be encouraged to visit businesses that display a Competitor Appreciation Certificate in their establishment. Each business may extend a discount or other special offer to competitors wearing the souvenir button.
If a business chooses to participate, its name and a short summary of the business will be featured on an information sheet included in each competitor “Welcome Packet” upon their arrival at Camp Perry. If you wish to participate in the Competitor Discount Program, complete the enclosed form and return it to the CMP by Wednesday, June 16.
Businesses may also fill out and submit the form online at https://thecmp.org/l/nm-discount-form/.
The Chambers of Commerce and the CMP would also like to offer an opportunity to drop off restaurant menus, flyers or coupons to be included in each of the 2,500 Competitor Welcome Packets to be put together in the coming month.
All materials should be delivered to the CMP, Camp Perry Training Site, Bldg. 3 (CMP Headquarters), on Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., but no later than Wednesday, June 16.
