The North Coast Concert Band will present its annual Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. in the Port Clinton High School Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature a wide variety of Christmas music, from traditional to jazz to contemporary.
Some of the music that will be featured includes arrangements from the movie Polar Express; a jazz arrangement of Go Tell It On the Mountain; a medley of Irving Berlin’s Christmas music; and Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival.
The North Coast Concert Band is a community band made up of 85 adult musicians ranging in age from 18 to 97 and has been in existence since 1983. The members of the band come from all walks of life, including teachers, lawyers, doctors, nurses, factory workers, stay-a-home moms and retired people.
The band rehearses on Tuesday evenings in Bellevue High School and gives three main concerts a year, as well as a number of summer performances. In addition to the Port Clinton concert, the band will perform in Clyde on March 1 and in the Sandusky State Theatre on May 3.
