The Norwalk Truckers Softball team lost out on the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division championship, losing to the Perkins Pirates 4-3 on May 3, the final home game of the season. The Truckers would rebound against the number three-seeded Shelby Whippets on May 10 by a score of 6-5 to win a Division II sectional championship. Norwalk was seeded fourth in the Willard district and was trailing Shelby 5-3 heading into the seventh inning.

Norwalk put together four straight singles and a sacrifice fly, which would tie the game. As the eighth inning started, Emma Gebhardt, a freshman, hit a home run on a 1-2 pitch as Norwalk took the lead. Senior starter Haley Gockstetter had seven strikeouts and one walk and would retire Shelby in order in the bottom of the eighth inning. Shelby’s record is 17-7, and Norwalk has a record of 15-8. Norwalk will play against either Clear Fork (number two) or Bellevue (number eight) next week.
