Oak Harbor and Port Clinton plan Independence Day events

Oak Harbor and Port Clinton have planned a booming good time for Independence Day. From dance parties to food trucks, the towns have gone all out to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Oak Harbor, Wednesday, July 3

The Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce Independence Day Celebration will be held on Wednesday, July 3. Downtown and riverfront activities will kick off with the Cops & Rodders Car Show from 5 p.m. to dusk. Kids can enjoy Journey’s Giant Inflatables from 5 to 9 p.m. The Chamber Tent, featuring pop and beer, will be open from 5 to 10 p.m., and food trucks and concessions will also be open 5 to 10 p.m.

Class A Dance will perform at 5:30 p.m., and Harbor Lites will perform at 6:30 p.m. DJ Tim will offer music and karaoke from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The Royalty Duck Race will take place at 8 p.m.

Fireworks will begin at dusk.

Port Clinton – Thursday, July 4

Port Clinton’s Red, White & Vroom event will be held on Thursday, July 4. The daylong celebration will kick off with the Star Spangled Squirt Gun Run/Walk 5K, which is sponsored by the Port Clinton Women’s Club. Registration will begin at the Jefferson St. Pavilion at 8 a.m., and the 5K will begin at 9 a.m.

The popular annual Firecracker Cutie Contest will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church (UMC) at the corner of 2nd and Adams streets. Registration begins at 11 a.m., and the contest starts at noon. All ages, from birth to adult, are welcome to participate. Contact Heather at 419-341-8177 for more information.

A Food Truck Feast will be held in the Trinity UMC parking lot from 2 – 6 p.m., and an Ice Cream Social sponsored by Ottawa County Senior Resources and Crosser-Priesman Funeral Home will be held inside the church from 2-7 p.m.

A Classic Car, Truck & Cycle Show sponsored by Croghan Colonial Bank will be held in the 100 and 200 blocks of Adams St. from 2-6 p.m. A $10 donation per vehicle is suggested.

The popular Voices of Freedom Community Choir Concert directed by D. Gregory Fox will take place at Trinity UMC at 7 p.m., and a Family Dance Party hosted by Port Clinton Radio will be held at Waterworks Park from 8-10 p.m. The party will feature DJ Von and the PC Lion’s Club Food Wagon.

Fireworks, presented by Pyrotecnico, will begin at 10 p.m. at Waterworks Park and City Beach.
