Alexander’s 31 points lead Rockets to win over Eastwood

PEMBERVILLE — Holding a four-point lead at halftime, Oak Harbor (8-6) took control in the third quarter. Outscoring the Eastwood Eagles by 10 points to push their lead to 49-35, the Rockets never looked back.
Jac Alexander had another fine performance, finishing with 31 points, including four 3-pointers. Gage Brough scored 13 points and Clay Schulte chipped in with 10. Oak Harbor led 17-16 after the first quarter and 29-25 at halftime.
Jake Halko led Eastwood (6-8) with 19 points, including four 3-pointers, and Isaac Badenhop finished with 12 points.
Vermilion 68, Oak Harbor 56
Reigning league champion Vermilion showed why it is one of the area’s best teams, defeating Oak Harbor in a hard-fought battle, 68-56. The Sailors, who are undefeated and stand alone atop the Sandusky Bay Conference’s Bay Division, held a 12-11 lead after one quarter that was extended to 28-19 at the half. Vermilion led 43-34 after the third quarter before pulling away in the fourth.
Jac Alexander led all scorers with 24 points, Clay Schulte scored 13 and Tyler May finished with 12. Jonah Pfeil and Zach Kovach both scored 15 points and Mason Montgomery finished with 12.
Rocket girls defeat Vermilion in convincing fashion
Oak Harbor steadily built its lead as the game wore on and used a big fourth quarter to give the Rockets with a 64-26 victory over Vermilion. Oak Harbor (9-7, 5-4 SBC Bay) held a 41-23 lead following the third quarter and won the fourth, 64-26.
Ryann Steinbrick scored a game-high 22 points, followed by Sophia Eli (15), Riley Steinbrick (11) and Auna Tack (10). McKinley Shrede scored eight points to lead the Sailors, who dropped to 4-10 and 3-5 in the conference.
Tiffin Columbian 51, Oak Harbor 43
Tiffin Columbian girls held off Oak Harbor and won the Sandusky Bay Conference crossover game, 51-43. TC led 17-16 after the first quarter and 26-24 at halftime before pushing its lead to 36-30 after three.
The Tornadoes (10-5) got 15 points from Hailey Cooper and 14 from Abby Dryfuse. Sophia Eli scored 15 points and Ryann Steinbrick finished with 14.
Willard 59, Oak Harbor 51
Cassidy Crawford was too much to handle as she scored 32 points to lead Willard to a 59-51 victory over Oak Harbor. The Crimson Flashes (11-3, 6-2 SBC Bay) led 37-21 at halftime and 51-31 after three quarters before the Rockets won the fourth, 20-8, to make the score respectable.
In addition to Crawford’s 32 points, Presley Feltner chipped in with 12. Ryann Steinbrick had 22 points to lead Oak Harbor, followed by Sophia Eli (13) and Auna Tack (12).
