The Oak Harbor Development Group (OHDG), an all-volunteer group created in 2015 to work closely with the Village of Oak Harbor on projects each year, recently elected its 2024 officers. They are: President Mike Shadoan, Vice President DJ Everett and Treasurer/Secretary Valerie Winterfield. The OHDG’s purpose is to bolster economic development and foster a growth-friendly environment for both businesses and residents.

The OHDG’s current projects include accessible family swings at Veterans Park, fitness stations on the walking path at Veterans Park and Riverfront Developments on Mill Street.

The OHDG is also responsible for securing sponsors for the downtown flower planters each spring and the sale of Veterans Banners every other fall. They are currently accepting sponsors for the Veterans Banners which will be hung this coming spring. Forms are available at the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce office, 161 W. Water St., Oak Harbor.

The OHDG is funded by donations, grants and sponsorships. The Founders Program is made up of local businesses and individuals who commit to donating $1,000 per year. As a non-profit organization, all donations to the OHDG are tax-deductible. The OHDG also accepts real estate donations and bequeaths.

To get involved with the OHDG, contact Winterfield at 419-898-0479.
