The Oak Harbor Athletic Department and the Oak Harbor Athletic Boosters have teamed up to recreate the Oak Harbor Athletic Hall of Fame in a special room at Oak Harbor High School.
While still a work in progress, the new Hall of Fame area directly off the school cafeteria will feature touch screen television monitors, allowing visitors to search for information on current sports records and information on past athletes inducted into the Hall of Fame. Visitors will be able to search 72 years worth of yearbooks from graduating classes at Oak Harbor High School.
Oak Harbor has teamed up with Touchpros.com to create a URL that can be accessed from any computer, allowing everyone to see all of the information. To access the webpage go to: oakharborrockets.touchpros.com.
The next induction of past student athletes into the Oak Harbor Athletics Hall of Fame will be in the Fall of 2021. There is a nomination form on the B-C-S website (www.bcssd.com) under the Athletics page. The due date for nominations is June 30 of each year. Nomination forms and additional materials need to be sent to the Hall of Fame committee’s email address at halloffame@bcssd.com
“We are proud to re-dedicate our Athletic Hall of Fame to honor the achievements of our past student athletes who contributed so much to our high school and athletic program,” said Oak Harbor Athletic Director Daniel Hoover. “A huge thank you goes out to the Oak Harbor Athletic Boosters for sponsoring the Hall of Fame, and to the many people that have helped with the effort — including Co-Chair Matt Tooman, and the entire Hall of Fame Committee. A special thank you goes out to Jake Zbierajewski at Image Metal Arts for donating the History of our Rockets pieces hanging in the Hall of Fame room.”
