Oak Harbor Library: 60-Plus Health Clinic, Tri-Motor featured in April

The Oak Harbor Library, 147 W. Main St., Oak Harbor will feature in April a 60-Plus Health Clinic by the Ottawa County Health Department on Wednesday, April 12 from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Also on tap will be Flying Island Island Airlines on Saturday, April 15 featuring veteran pilot Ed Rusch, who flew the iconic Ford Tri-Motor airplane and a bush plane back and forth to the Lake Erie Islands more than five decades ago has great tales of those early flights.

Library Hours are: Monday – Thursday: 9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Just for the kids:

Spring Break Book Bags will have the book bags available throughout April. Just pick up and go! Storytime for preschoolers will be held every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the children’s area of the library.

STEM Crafts afterschool is being held the week of April 3 with Virtual Reality sessions. The Week of April 17, Stop and Go Animation is being held after school.

Just for Adults:

60 Plus Clinic at the library: Provided by the Ottawa County Health Department on Wednesday, April 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The clinic provides basic services to people 60+ such as blood pressure screening, cholesterol screening, and health education at no charge. To schedule an appointment call the Ottawa County Health Department at 419-734-6800.

Friends of the Library Meeting is Friday, April 14 at 11 a.m.; Flying Island Airlines is on Saturday, April 15 at 11 a.m.; Book Sale is the week of April 17-21 during library hours; Pinochle is every Friday at 2 p.m.

Watercolor on Wednesdays is from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Bring your own supplies and join others who enjoy the art of watercolor.

Needle Crafts Group meets on Thursdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Bring your own supplies and see what others are making.

Circut Craft is on Monday, April 24 at 2 p.m. Register to attend at oakharborpubliclibrary.org or call 419-898-7001. All materials are provided.

Book Clubs that are meeting include:

“Coffee and a Book” meets on Wednesday, April 12 at 11 a.m. in the library meeting room. Honor by Thrity Umrigar is a story set in India, of two couples and the challenges of love across the cultural divide. Pick up a copy at the Library. New members welcome.

The 4th Tuesday Book Club will be held on Tuesday, April 25 at 6 p.m. The Storied Life of A J Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin reminds us why we read and why we love. Pick up a copy of the book from the library, read and join us for a discussion. New Members welcome.

Free covid test kits are available at the library. For contactless pickup, please contact us at 419-898-7001. Meeting rooms available by reservation. Quiet Rooms are available on a first- come first-served basis. The Local History & Museum Center is open on Thursday: 9:30 a.m.–2 p.m. A local historian is on site most Thursdays.
