Oak Harbor mother, son indicted for trafficking drugs

Kyle Vestal, 30, and his mother, Kimberly Vestal, 53, of Oak Harbor were both indicted by an Ottawa County Grand Jury on Tuesday, Aug. 8 on multiple first degree counts related to a methamphetamine trafficking investigation. Both were indicted of first degree felony counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, in addition to other degrees of felonies.

The Ottawa County Drug Task Force and the Oak Harbor Police Department began their drug trafficking investigation in January 2023 where Kyle Vestal was suspected to be trafficking methamphetamine in the Oak Harbor area. As the investigation commenced, agents discovered that Kyle’s mother, Kimberly Vestal, was also involved in trafficking drugs alongside her son.

During the investigation, agents seized several hundred tablets that came in a variety of colors. All of the tablets were stamped to appear as a small hand grenades.

Following the indictments, the Oak Harbor Police Department and the Ottawa County Drug Task Force arrested both Kyle and Kimberly Vestal at various locations in Oak Harbor. Both are currently housed at the Ottawa County Detention Facility. Bond was set at $300,000 for Kyle Vestal and $25,000 for Kimberly Vestal.
