The Oak Harbor Rockets Boys Varsity Basketball team beat the Eastwood Eagles 64-55 on Dec. 22 in a home conference game. Oak Harbor opened up early 17-7 in the first quarter. Both teams traded two and three-point field goals as Oak Harbor lead 30-24 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Oak Harbor was scoreless, making the halftime score Oak Harbor 30-Eastwood 28.
In the third quarter, Oak Harbor got on the scoreboard with a two-point field goal to take a 32-28 lead. Oak Harbor began pulling away, leading 40-35. Eastwood mounted their scoring drive as they not only caught up, but then took the lead 42-40. The two teams again swapped the lead and were tied 44-all at the end of the third quarter. In the final quarter, Oak Harbor broke the tie and would go on to increase their lead to a 64-55 win.
In recent Oak Harbor Girls Varsity Basketball action, the Rockets lost a close home conference game to the Eastwood Eagles 37-34 on Dec. 19. The Rockets scored a convincing win against the Toledo Waite Indians 50-2 in a nonconference road game on Dec. 21.
