Hayward triggers Oak Harbor’s fifth win, 48-0
The Rocket’s Jaqui Hayward caught four touchdown passes from quarterback Mike LaLonde and rolled to an easy 48-0 victory over host Rossford on Friday night. The victory was Oak Harbor’s fifth straight this season. They will host Fostoria this Friday.
The Rockets are now 5-0, 2-0 in the Northern Buckeye Conference.
Hayward had 10 receptions for 142 yards that included a 49-yard touchdown. LaLonde was 18 for 20 passing for 236 yards.
Also scoring touchdown runs were Dalton Witter, rambling from 32 yards out; Blake Nickel from 3 yards; and Bodee Miller, a dazzling 75-yarder.
Visiting Clyde topples Port Clinton, 34-13
The Redskins had a late surge as the first half wound down, scoring on a 26-yard run by Kim Pinkerton, but Clyde took a 21-7 halftime lead into the locker room and kept Port Clinton in check the rest of the way for a 34-13 victory.
The Fliers are now 4-1 on the season, while Port Clinton falls to 2-3.
Kam Shortridge caught touchdown passes from Drake Guhn covering 20 and 4 yards in the first half for Clyde.
Redskins’ running back Dagan Meyers missed the game with an injury. Despite only three carries, Port Clinton’s Briar Rohrer had 86 yards on the ground and a 29-yard reception.
Spencer, Clement pace Genoa, 60-31
Alex Spencer and Luke Clement rushed for two touchdowns apiece and paced Genoa to a victory over Lake, 60-31. Genoa’s ground game was strong, totaling 499 yards, as Spencer rang up 123 yards and Clement added 74 yards, both on 11 carries. Clement also scored on an interception.
Jagger Magnone and Aiden Brunkhorst also ran for touchdowns for the Comets. The Comets (are now 4-1).
Margaretta 28, Woodmore 3 as Polar Bears win third
The Margaretta Polar Bears won their third game of the season, topping Woodmore as Margaretta’s Jake Bouy tossed two touchdown passes. Kaine Smetzer scored on a 23-yard run and Gage Bodey caught a touchdown pass for the Polar Bears (3-2).
