Vernon J. Wiersma, April 4, 1931 – February 8, 2019
Vernon J. Wiersma, 87, of Oak Harbor, died Friday, Feb. 8, at Heritage Village of Clyde. He was born April 4, 1931 in Toledo, son of Henry and Marie (Rauch) Wiersma. Vernon received his BA in Engineering from The Ohio State University and was a landscape architect for Toledo Metro Parks and a Toledo Parks Commissioner. He was a United States Air Force Veteran.
Surviving are his companion, Donna Lou Fizer of Oak Harbor; sons, Matthew T. (Vikki) Wiersma of Palm Bay, Fla., Timothy K. Wiersma of Fremont, OH; son-in-law: Jim Sullivan of Toledo; brother Charles Wiersma of Mansfield. Funeral services were Feb. 11 at St. John Ev. Carol Ann Jolliff, 72, of Forest, Ohio passed away Feb. 7. She was the daughter of Emmett and Eldamae Hofacker of Port Clinton. She was a 1965 graduate of Port Clinton High School. She is survived by sons John “Jay” and Jeff Jolliff of Kenton, and daughter Nichole Whitt of Mt. Vernon, three grandchildren, sisters Pamela (Martin) Migot, Susan Brent, brother Paul (Luann) Hofacker, all of Port Clinton and Mark (Paulene) of Lewis Center, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband ,John, her parents, and brothers Dale and Roger Hofacker. Price McElroy Funeral Home, Kenton, Ohio was in charge of arrangements.

Paul L. Bitter, September 24, 1933 – February 9, 2019
Paul L. Bitter, 85, of Genoa, died Saturday, Feb. 9, at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon. Paul was the son of Martin E. and Laura L. (Hurdelbrink) Bitter, born in Genoa on Sept. 24, 1933. Paul was a farmer all of his life in the Genoa and Oak Harbor areas.
Paul is survived by his wife, Susan Pope-Bitter; and children, Cheri Swan and Reggie (Susan) Bitter; siblings, Carol Eckermann, Willis (Sharon L.) Bitter, and Ted (Sharon K.) Bitter.
A memorial service is 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at Zion Lutheran Church, 26535 Pemberville Rd., Perrysburg. Immediately following the service the family will receive friends for a time of fellowship and luncheon in the church hall.
