The Ottawa County Community Foundation (OCCF) began in 1999 and, thanks to the foresight of a generous group of local people, recognized that a program of annual grants and financial support could make a huge difference for many small groups and agencies that were struggling around Ottawa County,
The foundation’s hard work by local volunteers has helped a myriad of agencies and social organizations both small and large apply for its grants in order to find support and success. On Sunday, Sept. 15 the OCCF will celebrate its 20th anniversary of doing good works by hosting a complimentary open house on the beautiful grounds of the Schedel Arboretum and Gardens in Elmore from 1-4 p.m.
Over its two decades, the foundation has worked with more than 85 individuals and organizations who have established specific funds through the foundation. The OCCF is thankful to those who entrusted it with their funds to help improve the quality of life in Ottawa County, and is always looking to embrace new donors.
These funds provide annual scholarships, community grants and organizational support to fulfill the wishes of the donor. The beauty of establishing a fund through the foundation is that each named fund remains in perpetuity.
That is why the OCCF motto, “Doing Good. Forever,” is so appropriate.
Board President Joy Roth and the entire OCCF Board of Directors have extended an invitation to its community partners, as well as people interested in learning more about the foundation. For more information visit the OCCF website, www.ottawaccf.org
