In a significant milestone on Thursday night and Friday morning, a concrete deck was poured by the Ohio Department of Transportation in a major project to rebuild the 90-year-old Elmore Bridge over the Portage River in western Ottawa County.
The bridge is expected to be replaced by mid-August, with lane restrictions expected to be necessary through November. State Route 51 is still closed between Rice Street and State Route 105 over the Portage River.
State Route 51 between Elmore and State Route 163 will experience lane restrictions for resurfacing through August.
In other ODOT work, State Route 2 and West Fremont Road, between Kirk Road and South Wonnell Road in Port Clinton, will experience northbound lane restrictions for a slide repair into September.
State Route 2 over the Sandusky Bay Bridge will experience shoulder restrictions for pier encasement repair into October. State Route 19, between the Oak Harbor village limits and State Route 2, will have lane restrictions due to resurfacing in June.
