On Saturday, April 20, members of the Oak Harbor High School (OHHS) National Honor Society (NHS) met at Veteran’s Memorial Park to begin their village beautification project for Global Youth Service Day (GYSD). Students leveled the flower bed, spread wildflower seeds, and set up the butterfly watering station. Other NHS members will complete the garden at a later date by planting the butterfly bushes that were unavailable at the time.

NHS applied for and was awarded a grant from ServeOhio, which funded the project. Global Youth Service Day on April 26-28 is the longest-running annual youth participation event in the world and the only one that asks all youth ages 5-25 to work together for the common good, while also recognizing the impact youth make on their communities every day of the year. ServeOhio funds service projects in honor of GYSD each year.

OHHS NHS wishes to thank ServeOhio and the Village of Oak Harbor who helped make this project possible.
