The Ohio Wildlife Council has proposed deer seasons for 2020-2021, with the popular deer gun season slated for Nov. 30-Dec. 6 and Dec. 19-20. A major change that has been proposed would be to open the small game and furbearer hunting seasons during the deer gun season on Nov. 30-Dec. 6 in response to deer hunter and production landowners surveys.
The other proposed deer hunting dates are: Deer archery, Sept. 26 through Feb. 7, 2021; youth deer gun, Nov. 21-22; and deer muzzleloader, Jan. 2-5, 2021. Some county deer bag limits may change, with the statewide bag limit to remain at six deer, including only one antlered deer.
The complete list of deer and small game proposals, which were announced in January, can be found at wildohio.gov, which is also accepting comments on the proposals. A statewide hearing on all proposed rules will be Wednesday, March 25 at 9 a.m. at the Ohio Division of Wildlife’s District One office, 1500 Dublin Rd., Columbus.
