A year after opening, Lola’s Vintage Lakehouse in Port Clinton has doubled its inventory and is looking ahead to a second year of offering the community an eclectic shopping experience. Walking into Lola’s is like walking into a friendly museum with comfortable antiques that stir the memory and upscale vintage that inspires the imagination. Customers can find a beaded purse like great-grandma used to carry or an urban-mod print to hang on a cottage wall.

Lisa Smith opened Lola’s Vintage Lakehouse in December, 2022, as a way to turn her passion for all-things-old-and-pretty into a business. Today, the shop is filled with hundreds of consignment items, from glassware to jewelry to décor.

“My biggest sellers are paintings and furniture, and people buy a lot of knickknacks because they like unusual things,” Smith said. “We sold a lot of gifts and décor at Christmas.”

The holiday season never ends at Lola’s, which offers a year-round Christmas décor area featuring pieces created by Smith’s Toledo-based designer.

“I like Christmas all year round,” Smith said. “There’s something about Christmas décor – it’s just so pretty.”

Lola’s had a strong first year and was especially busy during the tourist season. Smith likes seeing groups visit the shop any time of year.

“People come in groups – sometimes it’s women having a girls’ weekend. They come in to shop, and they’re all laughing. It’s so fun,” she said.

Lola’s is more than just a place to shop. It’s an experience that feeds the memory and calms the mind.

“It’s my goal, when you come in here, to speak to your senses. It smells good. Its sounds good. It looks good,” Smith said. “A girl just came in here on her lunchbreak. She said she comes in here to clear out.”

Not only does Lola’s create a unique shopping experience for her customers, but it also gives Smith the opportunity to connect with people who share her passion for bringing beauty into daily life.

“For me, this is such a creative outlet,” she said. “I get to meet creative people, and I get to learn about vintage and antiques. The people who come in here are old souls. They just look at life differently.”

Lola’s Vintage Lakehouse is located at 212 Buckeye Blvd. in Port Clinton. For more information, call 419- 707-2037 or visit the Lola’s Vintage Lakehouse Facebook page. Winter hours are Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
