After the day-long festivities of celebrating the Fourth of July are finished with the final boom of fireworks, litter is often lost, misplaced, and left behind, hidden under the dark night sky. The OSS Solid Waste District wants to encourage everyone in Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca counties, to help clean up the day with a Fourth of July Litter Cleanup Challenge. Participants will be provided with all the necessary tools for cleaning up their community safely. In return for participating in the challenge. One person will win a $50 Amazon gift card from the OSS Solid Waste District, and a second winner will receive a bundle of OSS gifts!
The challenge is only open to residents of Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca County.
The challenge runs now through July 10 (the Sunday following the Fourth of July). You are encouraged to clean any public space safely and responsibly. To get started you can request a DIY Community Cleanup Kit by calling/emailing 419-334-7222. Extension 3 or email@example.com and saying “I’d like to participate in the Fourth of July Litter Cleanup Challenge” to get started.
You can set up a time to come to the OSS office at 1875 E. State St., Fremont, to pick up a kit, or choose to have a kit mailed to your house. When the kit arrives, you can use the supplies inside to safely clean up your community. Please properly throw away any trash items, and recycle and recyclable cans and bottles.
To then be entered to win the challenge, please record your cleanup! Information provided in the kit will show you how to then record and share your collection data with the District. The process is simple, and any pictures taken during the cleanup are encouraged to be shared on social media, tagging the Ottawa Sandusky Seneca Solid Waste District in it.
All it takes is a trash bag, a pair of gloves, and a moment of your time to make an impact.
