Ottawa County Holiday Bureau has Dec. 14 food distribution

The Port Clinton unit of Ottawa County Holiday Bureau will be distributing food to those in need on Dec. 14, serving 275 families from Port Clinton, as well as Catawba, Bay, Erie and Portage townships.

The Ottawa County Holiday Bureau is in need of non-perishable food items, since takes a lot to feed that many families. As an example, the bureau will need 550 cans of fruit in order to give each family just two cans of fruit.

Donations would be greatly appreciated. They can be dropped off at Magruder Hospital or call Bonnie Kaspar at 419-734-2930.

Volunteers are needed Friday, Dec. 13, to help sort and count donations. This will take place in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church gymnasium, in order to get foods ready for distribution on Saturday, Dec. 14. Those who can give an hour or more either day, please contact Kaspar at 419-734-2930.

The bureau would also like to thank Ida Rupp Public Library for its support again this year. The library staff collected food during the month of November by letting patrons pay their fines with a can of food.

Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation can mail it to Ottawa County Holiday Bureau, Port Clinton Unit, P.O. Box 713, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452 or call Kaspar. We would like to thank all those who support us whether it is giving food, money or volunteering time, it is all really appreciated!
