  • DIY Winter Wreath, Ida Rupp Public Library; 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.; Adults. Enjoy the season with a snowy, winter-themed wreath, dec-orated beautifully with muslin and yarn. Add mini trees, natural ac-cents, and snow to an embroidery hoop base. Winter is the time to celebrate a scenic wonderland full of white, sparkling snow. This is an Adult program – we’ll be using hot glue guns.

Book – Afterlife by Julia AlvarezDIY Fairy Garden, Ida Rupp Public Library; 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.; Teens. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to make a fairy garden to take home! While supplies last.
  • Books & Brews, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; 6:30 – 8 p.m.; Adults. Visit Wee Willy’s to talk about your new & old favorite titles! Each month we also have a genre goal. For this meeting, we have decided to read a book of short stories.
  • Preschool Story Time, Erie Islands Library; 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.; Children. Join Librarian Karen Wilhelm for a half hour of reading, song and a craft to take home. Parents and caregivers are asked to stay with their children.

  • Crocheting with Heather, Erie Islands Library; 3:30 – 5 p.m.; Adults. Come create an amazing crochet accessory by only using one stitch. No crochet experience necessary and once you have the technique down, you’re sure to make many more! This class is being presented by Heather Durdil who is host of the podcast Heather Spins a Yarn. She will be supplying the items needed for this project.

  • A Beginner’s Guide to Canning, Ida Rupp Public Library; 4 – 5 p.m.; Adults. Arrive with an open mind and leave with a possible new hobby! Every second Wednesday of the month we’ll meet to explore a new topic. Join us this month with Katie Schlagheck from OSU to learn about canning. Katie will bring in equipment and dis-cuss the process of water bath canning and pressure canning.

  • Last Days of the Ship of Success, Ida Rupp Public Library; 4 – 5 p.m.; Adults. Come listen to Port Clinton native and author Rich Norgard bring to life the ship’s last days in this fascinating presen-tation. From peaceful beginnings as a trading vessel and emigrant ship, the Success became Australia’s most infamous penal hulk, later traveling the world as an exhibition ship, fascinating–and horri-fying–millions of visitors in Australia, Great Britain, and the United States. The ship ended her days on the Great Lakes on July 4th, 1946, as Lake Erie’s most fabled and famous shipwreck.

Let’s try some painting! A patron has donated some wooden shapes that need to be painted. We have all the supplies you will need: wooden piec-es, brushes, and paint. You just bring your creative ideas and paint away! Bring a friend.

Friday January 20

  • Movie Night, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.; Adults. Come watch a box office hit on our big screen. This month we will enjoy Jerry and Marge Go Large. Feel free to bring a pillow to sit on and a blanket to snuggle up in. We will bring the popcorn and drinks. Since the Library is closed during Movie Night, please enter at the back door (follow the signs around to the James Park side of the building), starting at 6:00 p.m.

There will be time for questions and answers guided by a guest speaker. Kaleidoscope Youth Center of Columbus, Ohio will be joining Mrs. Magrum to al-low teens to discuss in an open but guided forum. Teens are wel-come to attend and ask any questions they may have or even just come to listen and learn. Join us at the library to design your own race track for Hot Wheel cars. Who will have the fastest track? The longest track? We have eve-rything needed: tracks, connectors, cars. Fun for all ages!
