Pets leave paw prints on our hearts. That sentiment is especially true for many homebound senior citizens whose pets are one important reason to keep going. With funding assistance from the Meals on Wheels Loves Pets Program, Ottawa County Senior Resources is teaming up with local veterinarian partners to offer Pet Pay vouchers to eligible county seniors to help offset the costs of keeping and caring for those four-legged family members.

Eligibility for Pet Pay vouchers includes:

  • Proof of residence in Ottawa County
  • Pet owner aged 60 or better
  • Willingness to use local veterinarian partners listed below

Pet Pay vouchers cover only the selected services listed below:

  • Puppy/kitten first vaccinations
  • Yearly vaccination maintenance
  • Heartworm, flea and tick medication

Pet Pay vouchers are only redeemable at the local veterinarian partners listed below:

  • Countryside Veterinary Clinic – 2180 Dickinson St. in Fremont; phone: 419-334-8178
  • Harborview Animal Hospital – 2360 E Harbor Rd. in Port Clinton; phone: 419-734-5493
  • Oak Harbor Veterinary Hospital – 1386 OH-19 in Oak Harbor; phone: 419-898-3411

The Pet Pay voucher program is currently underway and is first come, first serve with a limited number of vouchers available. Vouchers will cover up to $300 per animal for covered services. Any additional cost is the responsibility of the pet owner. Vouchers expire December 31, 2024. To obtain a voucher, please call Ottawa County Senior Resources at 419-898-6459 or email
