The Ottawa Soil & Water Conservation District is holding its 68th annual meeting and banquet on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds in Oak Harbor. The public is invited for the meeting, a BBQ dinner featuring chicken or pork chops and entertainment that includes
noted magician and comedian Greg Carson.
Tickets are $10, and available at the SWCD office or from members of the Board of Supervisors, including Rich Thorbahn, Todd Hecht, Roland Sandrock, Tom Riedman or Connie Sandwisch.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and by attending you can also cast a ballot in the election of two supervisors between 5:45 and 6:45 p.m. The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Ottawa SWCD Cooperator of the Year Award will also be given to an individual, business or agency that has shown outstanding support to past or present conservation efforts.

The Ottawa Soil & Water Conservation District was organized in February 1952 in accordance with the Ohio Soil Conservation Act. The district is responsible for the promotion of conservation and development of the natural areas within the county. It also assists landowners with the planning and applying of conservation practices on their land. The Ottawa SWCD offers a variety of services to promote and educate the community in soil and water conservation.
