Many areas are lighting up right now, trolling and casting. You don’t have to travel near as far right, either. Can’t beat Cedar Point right – plenty of fish to be caught, as many as you want right now. You will still have to sort but plenty of fish.

Big news – we went north back into Canadian waters and did very well these past few days. Awesome fishing was to be had five miles east of Mill Point, casting weapons with 1 to 1 1/2 weight, depending on your winds. Trollers did well using Tru-trips and spoons running 100 to 110 back in the same area. It is a great time to be fishing right now, with walleye biting, and the perch bite is on.

Speaking of which, the season is upon us with many reports coming in finding Lake Erie gold. We have seen many orders coming into Bay’s Edge fish cleaning this past week. Here are just a few places to get started. There have been many reports coming from the Camp Perry firing range at the cans. The most consistent has been G can. Another good spot has been Green Island, and one more for you and everyone’s go to is off Catawba Island. Catfish are still hitting in the bay, but it sounds like it’s been a stronger night bite from 9 p.m. till about 4 a.m.

The bait of choice still seems to be shrimp right now. They are catching during the day right now, but they are more offshore in the deeper waters right now.
