Plump fillets of delectable yellow perch are a favorite all around Vacationland, and some of the tastiest will be served in generous amounts when the Marblehead Lions Club’s 27th annual Perch Festival fills James Park in Marblehead on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The local folks and an army of visitors will have lots to do beside munch on perch fillets, served as sandwiches or full dinners, complete with french fries. Kicking off the fun day at spacious James Park will be the annual parade at 10 a.m. down Main Street, complete with floats, antique cars, fire engines and the excellent marching bands from the Danbury School District.

There will be a Marblehead Police Department K9 demonstration, a variety of vendors that will include crafters, a car show, children’s activities, special tours of the unique LaFarge Quarry, and even a magician!

Providing the musical entertainment will be Third Degree Band. There will be raffles all day, with the winning ticket picked at 4 p.m. The Perch Festival benefits the local communities. For more information, contact Tod Kelly, 248-765-0892.
