The Perkins Pirates won their 12th game of the season on Friday night, defeating West Holmes, 38-21 in Marion. They’ll now tackle Cleveland powerhouse Glenville at Elyria High School this Friday, Nov. 17 in the Division IV Region 14 championship game.
Perkins is the top seed in Region 14 with a 12-0 season mark, while the Tarblooders (10-3) are the No. 2 seed, but have plenty of credibility as the defending D-IV state champions. They’re coached by the legendary Ted Ginn Sr.
The winner will advance to the state final four.
The only other Sandusky Bay Conference team still alive is Lake Division runner-up Tiffin Columbian. The Tornadoes, 11-2 with a loss to Perkins, are in their regional final. They head to Clyde High School on Friday night, Nov. 17, to challenge Toledo Central Catholic (13-0), the defending D-II state champion.
