The Port Clinton Redskins boys varsity basketball team lost to the Norwalk Truckers 50-42 on Saturday, Jan. 4, in an away Sandusky Bay-Bay Conference game. Port Clinton held the lead 28-23 at halftime. Norwalk was just 10 for 28 from the field. In the second half of the game, Norwalk would hold Port Clinton to just 14 points. Port Clinton closed the gap to make it 37-33 at the start of the fourth quarter, and the game was tied at 38 all with just under five minutes left. The game was tied at 40 all as Ben Rothhaar scored for Norwalk and Aiden Finn scored for Port Clinton. Norwalk controlled the game from there until the final buzzer. For Port Clinton, Finn had a game-high 20 points and seven rebounds. Port Clinton is now 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the Sandusky Bay-Bay Conference, placing them third in the standings.

The Port Clinton Lady Red opened up the new year on the road against the Edison Chargers in a non-conference game on Jan. 4. Port Clinton came up short 50-45. Port Clinton held a narrow lead 25-23 at halftime. It was Edison coming on strong in the second half of the game for the win. Leading the scoring for Port Clinton was Olivia Spencer with 24 points.

Port Clinton was back in the win column against the Rossford Bulldogs 54-26 in an away, non-conference game on Monday, Jan. 6. The Lady Red were back home for a Sandusky Bay-Bay Conference game against the Huron Tigers on Thursday, Jan. 9, with Port Clinton getting a close 45-41 win. Scoring leaders for Port Clinton were Spencer and Thea Wybensinger who each had 17 points. Port Clinton made eight of 20 free throws. Port Clinton is now 10-5 overall and 2-4 in the Sandusky Bay-Bay Conference which puts them in fourth place.
