Chief Kent Johnson and the Port Clinton Fire Department are ready to begin handling emergency medical services, or EMS calls, and the public is invited on Monday, April 1 to check out the equipment and facilities and hear the first tone drop at noon, the audio signal that kicks off an EMS run.
Fire officials will mingle with the public and give tours of the facility starting at 11 a.m. at the Port Clinton Fire Department, 1755 E. State St., Port Clinton.
North Central EMS had provided emergency services in Port Clinton, but declined to extend its contract unless there was a substantial increase in costs. Chief Johnson said the new EMS services will become and integral part of the Port Clinton Fire Department.
