Port Clinton High School Orchestra Director, Adam Murray, named a 40 Under 40.

Port Clinton High School and Middle School Orchestra Director, Adam Murray, has been honored as one of the national Yamaha Music 40 Under 40 Music Educator honorees. According to the Yamaha website, “Yamaha launched the ‘40 Under 40’ music education advocacy program in 2021 to recognize and celebrate outstanding young music educators. The selected ‘40 Under 40’ educators have gone above and beyond to elevate music and music-making in their students’ lives.”

“Adam Murray has brought his strong work ethic, high-level skills and ability to relate to students to his classroom and has fostered an environment where students love to participate and are challenged to grow,” said PCHS Principal Gary Steyer. “Mr. Murray is regularly seen tutoring students individually in the mornings, after school and even in the summertime to help them build skill and enhance their love of music. His concerts are energetic, creative and fun.”

Murray hosts a Summer String program for new orchestra students and has an active and fun recruiting program for grade 5.

“I’m grateful for the recognition by not just Yamaha but by my colleagues in the music education community,” Murray said. “It’s humbling to be able to share the title with so many educators around the country that I look up to and am lucky enough to share the field with. I am thrilled that I can represent my students and my program at such a high level.”

Port Clinton City Schools are proud to be the only district in the county to offer orchestra along with band and choir programs.

“We are fortunate to have Mr. Murray as part of our team and so proud of him for receiving this recognition. He brings tremendous energy to his classrooms for our students and his passion for his work is evident in all that he does,” said Superintendent of Schools Patrick Adkins.
