An image of the Port Clinton Lighthouse that exposes the uniqueness of the small size and clean, supportive stature of the newest lighthouse on Lake Erie was selected for the cover of a monthly issue of Cities and Villages magazine. The photo was taken by photographer Kathy Jo Schweitzer of Port Clinton. Originally built in 1896, the long-abandoned lighthouse had been completely restored and placed on Lake Erie at Port Clinton Beach in 2016. A replica of the original Boathouse has also been added to the adjacent Derby Pond. The lighthouse has brought joy to Port Clinton, and to the thousands of visitors who tour the area, said Schweitzer, including lighthouse hunters like herself from around the United States.
