Port Clinton Orchestra Director Adam Murray hosted a luau-themed Summer Strings program for beginning orchestra students in the Summer of 2022. Port Clinton is the only school in the county to offer band, choir and orchestra for students in grades 6-12.

The Port Clinton City School District remains the premier school district in Ottawa County with the newest school facilities. These facilities continue to offer students state-of-the-art learning environments, provide educators with technology and tools to enhance learning, and promote excellence in the classroom.

In addition to the core academics, Port Clinton City Schools has strong STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) programs, College Credit Plus, Redskin Personal Learning Academy, outstanding educators, and unrivaled Fine Arts. Port Clinton City Schools are the only schools in the county to offer all three music programs: Band, choir and orchestra. Because of their commitment to the arts and music education, Port Clinton Schools have been nationally designated as a BEST Community for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Through alumni and community donations, Port Clinton student athletes have an exceptional athletic facility with the renovated True-Lay Stadium. In 2021, the Port Clinton Athletic Boosters partnered with the school district to transform an old warehouse into the Port Clinton Athletic Boosters Fieldhouse.

With more than 20 varsity sports at Port Clinton High School, this facility is utilized daily along with middle school and youth sports clinics.

The commitment to student-centered learning begins at the early grade levels. Bataan Memorial Primary preschool received the Five Star Step Up to Quality Award from the State of Ohio.

In addition to meeting all standards of a four-star rating, programs with five stars also have lower staff/child ratios and use child assessment results to plan activities that best support learning and development goals for each child.

The school district also works with other organizations and businesses within the community to support children and education and all grade levels. Recently, the Port Clinton Fire Department certified more than 100 Port Clinton High School freshmen in First Aid and CPR.

Port Clinton Schools have the support of the community to offer outstanding academic opportunities and the latest technology. Students use real world situations to solve algebra and geometry equations while wearing Virtual Reality goggles. Some real life situations include logistics of moving planes at an airport, city planning design, or emergency rescue coordination.

Virtual Reality equipment from North Point Educational Service Center is utilized to use real world situations in algebra and geometry lessons. The shores of Lake Erie are utilized in science classes with the help of Winous Point Marsh Conservancy, Ottawa County Soil & Water Conservation District, Magee Marsh State Wildlife Area, OSU Stone Lab and many more.

Port Clinton City School District is thankful to the community for their continued commitment and support of education. It is because of this support that Port Clinton City Schools are able to offer numerous educational opportunities for students.
