Port Clinton sends 4 wrestlers to districts

SANDUSKY — Port Clinton competed in the Division II sectional tournament in Sandusky and finished eighth with 89 points.

Perkins won the sectional crown with 211.5 points, followed by Shelby (164.0), Huron (154.0), Mansfield Madison (141), Norwalk (136), Rossford (112), Vermilion (107), Port Clinton (92), Sandusky (89) and Maumee (58).

The Redskins saw four wrestlers qualify for districts.

Jameson Mullens, wrestling at 145 pounds, won his weight class when he pinned Shelby’s Trace Thomas in 2:41. William Jackson (126) came in second, losing by fall in 3:27 in the finals to Huron’s Hunter Drury.

Skyler Cornell (106) and Brandon King (170) both finished fourth, good enough to earn a spot in districts.
