PORT CLINTON – On Oct. 5, Port Clinton High School Soccer will host a “Kick for the Cure” event at True Lay Stadium. At approximately 6:30 p.m., between the PCHS vs Sandusky boys and girls soccer games, special guest goalies will take the field—Port Clinton City School District School Resource Officers. Children in attendance will have the opportunity to kick a goal against these guest goalies for just $1. Plus, there will also be a special 50/50 during the evening. In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, proceeds will benefit Peyton Howard, a Port Clinton High School student fighting a rare brain cancer.

As a special treat, Crumbl cookie will be in the concession stand and there will be mini soccer balls tossed out during the games. Additionally, anyone wearing a “Kick for the Cure” T-shirt will receive free admission to the game. Boys game start time is 5 p.m. and girls soccer start time is 7 p.m. The PCHS cheerleaders will be joining in the festivities cheering from the sidelines.

Kick for the Cure is an important high school soccer event aimed at raising funds and awareness for cancer research. PCHS Coach Paco Romero is grateful to School Resource Officers, Curt Cochran and Carolyn DeMore, for being a part of this event.

Port Clinton High School and Sandusky High School will compete against each other on the field Oct. 5 but will join together to fight childhood cancer.
