Port Clinton High School senior swim star and Ohio State Swimming Champion Kami Periat recently signed her national letter of intent to continue her education and swimming career at the University of Minnesota. At the recent signing ceremony at Port Clinton High School were, seated left to right, her brother Grant Periat, mother Kami Periat, Kami Periat, and father Dan Periat.

Standing behind the Periat family is Port Clinton High School Head Swimming and Diving Coach Danny Diaz.

Periat became one of the best swimmers in the state, claiming her first state championship in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.32 seconds. That time ranked 25th in the country for high school girls last season, making her a National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association All-American.
