On June 7, we celebrated the 2026 Redskin men’s tennis team at the Catawba Island Club. It was a historic season and one of my favorite (and most surprising) teams I’ve ever coached!

Team Highlights

• With a record of 20-1, this team owns the best record in the storied history of this program!
• Outright SBC Bay champions! In fact, they will be the last-ever SBC Bay champs in tennis as we move to the NOC next year.
• Undefeated against both the SBC Bay and SBC Lake divisions
• Undefeated on our home courts
• The JV team goes undefeated and wins the SBC JV tournament
• Runner-up at the Rod Gale PC Doubles Invitational

Individual Highlights

• Kai Weit ends his career with 87 wins and will go up on the record board in the athletic hallway
• Payton Wadsworth is the SBC Bay champion at 3rd singles
• Alex DeFreitas and Aero Wymer are the SBC Bay champions at 2nd doubles
• 5 of our 7 varsity players are First Team All-SBC
• All of our varsity players are First or Second Team All-SBC

Thank you to Coach Evarts, Rod Gale, Brian Beck, all the parents, our athletic department, our Board of Education and administration, the local media, and all the supporters of PC Tennis for making seasons like this possible. These boys get a first-class experience in our program, and that wouldn’t be possible without all of you. I appreciate you!

This team is so young and so hungry to take this program to places it’s never been before. We have a core group of 5-6 guys who will train year-round and play in every USTA tournament they can in Ohio and Michigan. I’m also happy to report that we have some of the best athletes in our school coming out for tennis next year, and we’ve already got almost 100 kids signed up for our summer camps. We’re building something special at the Hablitzel-Von Thron Tennis Center, and I can’t wait!

I’ll be back in August for another season of Lady Redskin Tennis. We’ve got a huge team this year with 20+ girls, and it will be our first year in the Northern Ohio Conference. The NOC will still be split into divisions; in the Bay division, we’ll be joined by Bellevue, Edison, Huron, and Vermilion. The Lake division will be home to Clyde, Perkins, Norwalk, Sandusky, and Tiffin Columbian. We’ve again got a loaded non-conference slate with teams like St. Ursula Academy and Bryan coming to our home courts. It should be fun!
