‘Power of Media’ tops LESI Compass Learning Series

The Compass Learning Series hosted by Lake Erie Shores & Islands officials Bryan Edwards and Jill Bauer on Wednesday, March 18 will tackle “Power of Media,” and how to connect with the various media outlets in order to enhance and improve exposure for a business or service.

The Compass Learning Series will offer “Power of the Media” in both Ottawa and Erie counties. The afternoon session will be held at the Lake Erie Shores & Islands Welcome Center, 770 SE Catawba Rd., Port Clinton. Registration and networking will begin at 1 p.m., and the session will run from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Registration and networking for the morning session at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, 7000 Kalahari Dr., Sandusky, begins at 8:30 a.m. The program will run from 9-11 a.m.

Advance registration before March 17 is $10. Event day registration is $20.

Edwards and Bauer, who have a combined 30-plus years in the media relations industry, will lead a panel of journalists from a variety of media outlets. Panel topics will include: How do I get my story told?; What is the best way to get publicity for my business?; How do I get reporters to talk with me?

Panel members will also discuss a variety of topics on how to best pique media interest in a story. A question and answer period will follow each panel discussion.

Panelists include: Claudia Plumley of the Great Lakes Publishing and Long Weekends Magazine; D’Arcy Egan of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and The Beacon; Andy Ouriel of the Sandusky Register; Tonya Prater from Travel Inspires Living blog; and Stacy Maple from WPCR Port Clinton Radio.
