The Red Kettle bells are ringing to start the holiday season, and mix and matching holidays, bell ringer Vance Ireland was wearing his U.S. Army uniform for Veteran’s Day, too. The Friendship stores on Port Clinton and Catawba were the first to welcome the bell ringers, who will be manning their stations on Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. through Dec. 24. The Red Kettles will also be stationed at Kroger’s, Walmart, Community Market and Miller’s Market around Ottawa County. The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign raised moe than $100,000 last year for people in need.
