There is an old adage in baseball. Managers just hope they are close enough in the late innings to have a chance. Such was the case with the Port Clinton football team on Friday night, as they took the game right down to the final play with a chance to tie and maybe win.
They came up one play short as quarterback Cam Gillum’s pass fell incomplete in the end zone as the scoreboard clock read 0:00. Final, Edison 13, Port Clinton 7.
Gillum finished the game completing 15 of 27 passes for 191 yards and one touchdown. His favorite target, Adam Thorbahn, caught 7 passes for 125 yards.
Edison made running the ball tough for Port Clinton. In total, the Redskins ran the ball 30 times for 100 total yards.
The Redskins are now 3-3 on the season, and 0-1 in the SBC Bay Division. They begin a three-game home stand this Friday as they host Vermilion. The Sailors lost to Oak Harbor at home last Friday, 42-6.
