Rev. Dr. Kay Mooney Cox

The First United Church of Christ-Congregational in Marblehead recently celebrated the retirement of their minister, the Rev. Dr. Kay Mooney Cox.

With over 20 years of service, Rev. Cox is the longest serving minister in the history of this small church on Lake Erie, according to records dating back to 1873.

At a luncheon in Rev. Cox’s honor, it was noted that over the years she had conducted eight weddings, 17 funerals, 15 baptisms, 11 confirmations, brought in 105 new members, and performed more than 1,000 services.

The Congregation presented her with a glass heart-shaped paperweight to symbolize that she was the “heart” of the church for over 20 years and wished her well in the next chapter of her life.
